Sushi!

Have you ever wondered how many calories there are in sushi? I have, it’s one of my most favorite things to eat. While rice contains a fair amount of carbs, sushi can be eaten without it (as sashimi) and a standard sushi item can be a healthy treat without breaking the calorie bank. I found the points of some popular sushi rolls so you can use this as a guide.
Avocado Roll: 2.5 Points
California Roll: 5 points
Kappa Maki (cucumber roll): 2 Points (I have this at AKINA, I tell them to add tuna, eel, or fish eggs in the center, and then drizzle some rice vinegar over the top, its DELISH!) Here is the picture below :) This Kappa Maki had crab and flying fish roe
Spicy Tuna Roll: 6 Points
Shrimp Tempura Roll: 11 Points
Salmon & Avocado Roll: 6 Points
Tuna & (Maguro) Roll: 3 Points
Eel and Avocado Roll: 8 Points

Last week I chose Akina, a popular sushi/Asian restaurant for my birthday dinner! I took some pictures of my most FAVORITE things to eat there. Here they are!

My most favorite dish, Garlic Shrimp

King Dragon Roll (Lobster and Tuna)

My B-day cake (Tempura Cheesecake)

NO, I didn't eat all of it, only 2 bites :)

Lesli's Mesa Meal

Ok this is the last installment of what 3 of the 4 Fat Chick's ate at Bobby Flay's house. I hope we haven't single handed ruined any of your diets, because after indulging in our fabulous Vegas food it was MAJOR hard for me to get back on the WW bandwagon, but alas... we all have to do what we have to do.

At first glance of the menu I considered the :
NEW MEXICAN SPICED
PORK TENDERLOIN SANDWICH

Grilled Red Onion, Arugula
Ancho-Chile Mayonnaise
+ Southwestern Fries

Then our delightful little waiter informed me that this was a COLD sandwich. Who wants a cold pork tenderloin sandwich? Not this fat chick!

So, I settled on the...

SCRAMBLED EGG ENCHILADAS
Chorizo, Red Chile Sauce + Goat Cheese
with HouseMade Grits

Us Fat Chicks are sharers, and we all took one bite then passed our plates around. I'll admit that after my first bite I loved Allison's best and actually asked her if I could trade her. Thankfully, she said Heck to the NO! I stuck out my enchiladas and they were FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC! The red chile sauce absolutely made the dish rich and the goat cheese made is succulent. And being from the south it is a requirement to like grits, and I don't love them, but I knew if anyone could make me love them, Bobby could. He did not disappoint. The were creamy and spicy and delicious.

Actually, when I was talking with the GM after our meal he asked what I thought and my exact words were, "Had it been appropriate, I would have LICKED my plate." You know, it was Vegas... maybe it wouldn't have been THAT inappropriate!

Ry's Mesa Meal

When we all decided to head to Vegas, Lesli and Allie requested to eat at Bobby Flay’s restaurant, Mesa Grill. Well, their wish came true last Sunday, and I must say it was a treat for our taste buds. If you don’t know me by now I’m addicted to seafood, and my favorites are scallops and shrimp (I’m worried one day I might turn into a crustacean). So when I was looking at the menu my eyes were drawn to ANCHO CRUSTED SEA SCALLOPS, with Crawfish-Green Onion Sauce. I was so glad I chose this dish because it was pure luxury to my mouth. The scallops were dusted with ancho pepper which means Poblano pepper in Spanish; it gave off a mild peppery flavor. The scallops were cooked perfectly, seared with a rare center. They were sweet and tender and melted in my mouth. The crawfish-green onion sauce was the icing on the cake, they had mixed crawfish meat in with the sauce, so every nibble had a crawfish tail on top. I must say it was great and different and if I’m ever at Mesa again I will be sure to order the same thing.

P.S. I’m sure this was only 4 points. ha! OH and Bobby, if your reading this please contact me, I have something very important to ask you.

P.F. Changs

 P.F. Changs is one of my favorite restaurants!  My first thought, I WONDER HOW MANY POINTS MY MONGOLIAN BEEF IS?

Well, I did some research and found out that Mongolian Beef is 30 points! My mouth dropped open when I found this out! I can’t believe this whole time I had been eating around 45 points in one meal! I started calculating and found out the best thing to get on the menu is the Shrimp in Lobster Sauce, which is worth 11 points, or the Cantonese scallops worth 10 points. If your wanting an appetizer, get the steamed shrimp dumplings, there only 3 points for half of the dish. I hope this helps if you’re a P.F. Changs lover like I am. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Chick-fil-A the WW Way!

posted by: Lesli

I feel like I've eaten 3/4 of my meals this last month in the car, which makes being on weight watchers a daunting task. Except for when I find restaurants that are conducive to my diet and my time!

An all time favorite of mine and MOST of you from the south is Chick-fil-A. Of all the fast food out there, I'll be the first to admit that this is not only the best tasting, this is absolutely the BEST for your weight watching!

I've found that I'm as stingy with my points as I am my money, but if you ran into me during lunch (or dinner) at Chick-fil-A this is what would be on my plate...

#2 ~ Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich: 5 points

with Medium Fruit instead of Fries: 1 point
Unsweetened Tea with 3 equals: 0 points

For a Grand Total of: 6 points

Not bad for a very filling lunch, huh?

There are times that a good splurge is in order and say you might have extra points lying around that you're just DYING to use up. If that was the case, here's what tempts me most...
~~~~~~~
Chick-fil-A Original Chicken Sandwich: 9.5 points (deduct a point for wheat bun or no butter)
Chick-fil-A Chargrilled Club Sandwich (love that bacon & provolone cheese!): 8 points
Chick-fil-A Chicken Salad Sandwich: 7.5 points
and for you breakfast lovers who like to go for the gold early before 11am...
Chick-fil-A 3 count Chick-n-Minis: 6 points
Chick-fil-A Chicken Biscuit: 9.5 points
For stingy point hoarders, these numbers might seem hefty, but I'd encourage you to examine other menus to better options with lower point values. It's not easy to find.
If you were pulling up a chair next to me at Chick-fil-A, what would you order? Don't worry, if you want to be bad, I wouldn't blame you NOR would I tell the WW gods!
